GCS is the home of Rwandan Cricket. The likes of Hershelle Gibbs (the first player to hit 6 consecutive sixes in one over in ODI cricket), Sam Billings (England cricketer and captain of Kent CCC) and Michael Vaughan (former English captain in all formats who regained the ashes after 18 years) have all played there.

GCS hosted the 2017 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers for East Africa, featuring Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya and Uganda.

GCS holds the record for the highest international T20 score, when Kenya bludgeoned 270 against Rwanda.
